Claire attends a day service as well as weekly Zumba and aqua aerobics classes. When Claire isn’t attending her day service, workout classes or competing, she is involved in the girl guides of Ireland. Claire also spends time caring for her dog and enjoys a spot of shopping as a treat.

Claire says that being an athlete leader means having a voice.

Project Description

Claire’s grant plan is to encourage athletes who aren’t participating in competitions or want to be more involved in Special Olympics to get involved in leadership roles in their clubs. She will do this by co-presenting the core module Understanding Leadership as a workshop to athletes from all regions in Special Olympics Ireland. Her aim is to increase the number of athletes who understand the possibility of a leadership role across Special Olympics Ireland. Claire hopes to gain leadership skills and experience by planning and organizing the program.
