Project Description

Daisy’s project plans to increase inclusion and understanding of the leadership potential people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) have by creating more inclusive environments for people with IDD and developing unified leaders. Her project will empower Athletes and Athlete Leaders in leadership and inclusion skills through sports. With these skills, the Athlete Leaders will then be able to establish and expand more Unified Sports through Unified Schools programming, engage new youth leaders to join the program and support Special Olympics programming and activities.

During and after completion of the project, the Athlete Leaders will be Special Olympics inclusion advocates who will campaign for more inclusive sports, education and health in schools, community, and during events. These Athlete Leaders will also be actively involved in Special Olympics Zambia by participating in planning, coordinating, and implementing programs and activities.
