Mr. Moss grew up in the small Midwestern town of Brandon, South Dakota, and began his journey through athletics by attending South Dakota State University (SDSU) on a full ride basketball scholarship. After a successful college basketball career, he played just one year of SDSU football before being selected by the Green Bay Packers and finishing his NFL Career with the Chicago Bears. Since finishing his NFL Career and with a passion for the entertainment industry, Mr. Moss has become an accomplished model, actor, and host, and sought after media personality, which has allowed him the privilege of being featured in some of the industry’s top fashion, fitness, lifestyle, and media outlets. Mr. Moss has advoca ted for youth developm ent, inclusive initiatives, and diversity to athletes, and has shared his story with students and political leaders around the world.
Mr. Moss older sister, Amber Moss who has an intellectual disability and is physically disabled participated in Special Olympics in South Dakota. Dale remembers cheering his sister from the stands as a young child as she participated in track & field. Mr. Moss decided back in 2015 that he wanted to make Special Olympics his philanthropic endeavor. Although his sister no longer participates in Special Olympics, he remembers how much Special Olympics gave to his sister—the opportunity to play sports, building her confidence level, giving her an outlet to make lifelong friends and ultimately, changing the attitudes of their community and how they viewed his sister.
Engagement:
Dale attended Special Olympics World Games in 2015 (Los Angeles), 2017 (Austria), and 2019 (Abu Dhabi) and Special Olympics Unified Cup 2022 (Detroit).
He has attended corporate events on behalf of Special Olympics including Toys R Us Annual Fundraising Gala and National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Weekend. He recently did a photoshoot with Special Olympics New York athlete Danny Davila that came out in CR Fashion book in early March 2018. Mr. Moss participated in Capitol Hill Day in 2018 meeting representatives from the state of South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin, and South Carolina.
That summer he attended Special Olympics 50th Anniversary in Chicago, Illinois participating in the Celebrity Unified Soccer Match.
Dale continues to engage with Special Olympics athletes around the world every chance he gets including having a special place in his heart for Special Olympics South Dakota and Special Olympics New York.
