Emily Klinger is Senior Vice President Leadership & Organizational Development at Special Olympics where she oversees a team focused on leadership development for people with and without intellectual disabilities and internal operational development including strategic planning and project management.
Prior to this role, Emily served in multiple departments within Special Olympics including global development, government relations, grant management and community impact. Emily has been in the Special Olympics movement for 25 years participating as a youth partner, volunteer, coach and volunteered with several state and country Special Olympics Programs.
Her prior experience includes working at Peace Corps where she was a Special Education Volunteer in Grenada and worked in inter-governmental affairs and partnerships office at Peace Corps Headquarters managing a USAID multi country grant agreement. She is also a former Special Education teacher with Chicago Public Schools and a Leadership Consultant.
Emily received her Master’s Degree in International Training and Education from American University and her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University majoring in Special Education and Human & Organizational Development.
