Tina Sirui Jia

Special Olympics China

Tina was born on 18 December 1984. She lives in Beijing, China. She joined Special Olympics in 1999. She participates in gymnastics, basketball, and swimming. She won her first medal in balance beam gymnastics during the 10th Special Olympics Summer World Sumer Games, Durham and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA.

From 2000-2002, Tina served as a Special Olympics Global Messenger. Thereafter, she became a member of the Unified Leadership program. In 2022, Tina’s colleagues recommend that she enroll to train as a Health Messenger. Since then, Tina has been a remarkable advocate for inclusive health. She spoke at the National Eye Care Awareness Day event, and she introduced Special Olympics Health program at several health meetings and lectures. As a Health Messenger, Tina encourages her fellow athletes to attend the Healthy Athletes® screening sessions. She advises them to avoid fried foods, drink enough water, and have a good sleep to rest their bodies. She is also a fan of unified fitness. She often promotes family fitness activities like ball games, swimming, and aerobics for the athletes and their family members.

Tina is a staff member at Special Olympics East Asia Regional office. As a Special Olympics athlete, Tina understands that she needs self-discipline in diet and fitness. However, she occasionally finds time to relax, just to make life happier. She often takes walks in the park with her husband and her dog-“A-dai”. Tina lives happily with her family.
